MOU signing ceremony between FICCI Ladies Organization, Pune Chapter and Science and Technology Park University of Pune and Adarsh Mahila Bachatgat, Panvadi was held on Thursday, 09th January, 2020 at Science and Technology Park University of Pune. The initiative was taken to empower women as entrepreneurs with a sustainable business model by providing ‘Rice De-Husking Machine’ which has been specially designed and manufactured by one of the startups promoted under Department of Science and Technology, Government of India’s SEED TARA Scheme (Technological Advancement for Rural Areas) and is developed at Vigyan Ashram, Pabal.
Scitech Park, Pune had adopted Panvadi village to transform it into a truly sustainable smart model village, and has painstakingly planned the overall upliftment of the entire ecosystem. This initiative forms a part of the integrated village development plan conceptualized by Scitech Park, Pune.
This contribution will help the women Self Helped Group and farmers at Panvadi village with access to the technology of ‘Rice De-Husking Machine’ which will reduce the cost of production and processing the paddy crop after harvesting. The technology will immensely help them to save their valuable time as the process will deliver the same quality of brown rice as they were getting through the traditional hand pounding method. Through this the local farmer can extend his produce and introduce it in the demanding market and explore new agri-business opportunities.
